Kirkholt Christmas Lights Switch On

The schedule has changed this year:  They're switching the lights on the tree at 4 THEN going to the church.

So rather than even attempting to extract childerbeast from schoo, get out of work, kitted up and at the tree for 4, Helen and Broomey will go to play at the tree (any other musicians who can make it for 4, please join us) then we'll come down to the church to meet up with Oakenhoof for a performance at 4.30

Littleborough Lantern Parade

WEARING:  Full greens with extra LIGHTS (fairy lights, etc) - dress for the weather and as bright as possible please!
Meet outside the coach house for QUARTER TO 6 so we can separate into two groups (musicians and dancers).  We will be with two separate parades which will then converge at the Park, parade around the park and then on up to Hare Hill House for a dance outside there.

Literature Festival Fringe Fling

It's the fringe week for the Literature Festival.  It's also a school night so I went for an earlier gig on a Tuesday so that the childerbeast will be available and can get home at a reasonable time.

Music, dance and song (with poetry and spoken word from our friends the Rochdale Writers)... so bring everything!

Pride is On!!!!

Our entry for the 2017 pride parade has been accepted!!!

The parade theme is "The Class of 2017" and our entry, "The Working Class of 2017" has been accepted.

This will involve a walking entry of North West Morris, with band and a tableau carried on a board.

Adults will be dressed as workers (think about a costume that clearly represents a profession:  any time from the industrial revolution up to the present day - the brighter and clearer the better).  We'll be unified with our lovely Oakenhoof yellow and black Baldrics.  Knitters, fear not, we shall not decree that all baldrics shall be knitted.  But, yes, it would be good to have some more and yes, I will relax the "no man made fibres" rule for the occasion.

Childerbeasts will be dressed as dancing bees, with our own Jemsley as the Queen Bee.  So have a think about costumes for these please, too.

More details to follow.  It's likely that we'll catch the train from Littleborough and walk to the meeting spot at Castlefield Roman Fort for 11.am.

In the meantime, I'm off to look for some yellow and black acrylic yarn (ew) and you lot get to get your thinking caps on re costumes!

Cheers, Helen!
